How it goes

  1. Toss the tuna with soy sauce and sesame oil. Let it sit while you prep the rest.

  2. Arrange rice in a bowl. Top with sections of tuna, edamame, avocado, and cucumber.

  3. Drizzle the leftover marinade over the top and sprinkle green onion.

What she’d tell you

When Babcio first saw raw fish over rice, I thought: this cannot be right! But one bite later, I understood. Hawaii knows what they are doing.

If you haven’t got it

  • Sushi-Grade Tuna

sushi-grade salmon, or cooked prawns if raw fish is not for you

  • Edamame

any bean you like; broad beans are lovely

Keeping it

This one does not keep, kochanie. Raw fish is eaten the day it is bought: buy it the morning you want it and make it that evening.

Never. Raw fish is not reheated, and it is not kept for tomorrow.

What’s for dinner tomorrow?
